When a patient's symptoms can be best addressed in an acute care setting, inpatient hospice care may be appropriate. The dedicated 6-bed "Judith A. Nee" Hospice Care Unit at Citrus Memorial Hospital provides care for patients in the final stages of terminal illness.

The first Hospice Hospice Care Unit in Citrus County was opened in Febuary 2005 at CMH in order to meet an identified need for patients who could not remain at home. The "Judith A. Nee" Hospice Care Unit at CMH is designed to afford a quiet, home-like atmosphere in which patients can benefit from individualized attention provided by the Hospice Team. Family members are permitted to stay around the clock if they desire.
