Hospice
Philosophy - Our Focus is On Life!
Medicine
and healthcare have made astonishing contributions
to society. People are living long,
healthier lives. Still, there may
come a time when a life-limiting illness
threatens a person's life and a cure may
not be within reach. It is at such
a time where Hospice of Citrus County Inc.
is a choice. We provide patients with
life-limiting illness something that most
other healthcare options cannot: Comfort,
Support, and Improved Quality of Life.
About
Hospice of Citrus County
Hospice of Citrus County is a healthcare
organization dedicated to caring for individuals
with life limiting illnesses and their families.
Services
include nursing care, patient care assistants,
social services, clergy, volunteers, and
bereavement services. We provide bereavement
camp twice a year for children in the county
who have lost a loved one. The camp is under
the direction of a trained youth counselor.
Individuals
may be referred to Hospice by doctors, family,
friends, or a community agency. Hospice
is a non-profit organization and is supported
by Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance,
and private donations.
Individuals
referred to Hospice must meet admission
criteria and have their physician or the
Hospice Medical Director their care while
in the Hospice program. To assess your needs
and questions, there is a nurse and social
worker available 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week.

What
is Hospice?
Hospice
care takes a team-oriented approach to medical
care, symptom management and bereavement
support. We tailor our approach to each
patient's needs and wishes.
How
Does Hospice Work?
Our
team designs a plan to meet each patient's/family's
needs. The teams consist of the patient's
physician, a hospice physician, nurses,
home health aides, social workers, clergy,
qualified volunteers, and specialized therapists
if needed.
The team, working together, plans the care
for the patient and family. Hospice pays
for all medications, equipment and care
that is provided through this plan of care
for the terminal diagnosis. In addition,
Hospice provides bereavement care and counseling
for families up to 13 months after the patient's
death.
